CHAPTER 07

Hello lovelies, here is the chapter enjoy reading:-

Piya's home:

They were a middle-class family-strict and used to living with rules. It was past 9 p.m., dinner was done. Her younger brother Aman, a cute yet intelligent boy, was writing notes, and Piya was scrolling through her phone.

They both heard footsteps. They exactly knew who it was, as Piya quickly took her books and kept her phone aside and started reading.

Her father, in his mid-thirties, sharp yet confident, with distant and cold features, scanned his children's room. Seeing them studying, he nodded and went from there.

Piya sighed and lay down on the bed.

"Goddddd, yeh toh strict se bhi zyaada strict hai."

Aman giggled, "Yes, Dad is strict but didu, he's better than Bade Papa."

Piya nodded sadly, "Yeah, I know how Shivi is living there."

Aman nodded, though he didn't understand everything yet, but he was trying to with his small brain.

Their mother, Sumitra, entered. She was wearing a simple dress, her long hair flowing. She looked at her children's faces with warmth and love.

"Beta," she said.

They looked at her and smiled, "Yes Mom."

Sumitra sat between them. "Let me feed you," she said, as she started giving them food bites one by one.

One mother held warmth and love toward her children, and one father was cold, distant, yet loved his children.

Same blood, own siblings, but there was a difference between Piya's parents and Shivani's parents. Shivani's parents never held love toward her, only hatred.

But why? For what?

Kapoor Mansion:

As Karan sat at his room desk, focused on his computer-typing something or rather trying to find something.

His mother, Rita, entered the room.

"Karan kya kar rahe ho?"

He rolled his eyes, "What? Sorry, I came here to take my laptop, not to meet you."

Rita's face turned red from anger.

"Karan stop it, tum ek hi cheez ko lekar baith gaye ho tum!"

His voice rang, "Ek cheez? Don't you know kya hua tha? What you and Yash's parents did to us? Aur aap bolti ho ek cheez? Sorry Mrs. Rita, I can't forget. Never ever."

With that, he took his laptop, slammed the door shut, and went from there.

Rita muttered, "Uss raat ne sab kuch badal diya." She sighed, "Never mind, ek din bhool jayega. Jab aur bada ho jayega, khud akal thikane aa jayegi."

They just avoided that night as if it didn't even exist in their life. But for Yash, Karan, and Rohan-that day did exist.

Six lives. All messed up. Some broken, some lost in darkness, some healing, some fighting their own battles-and with their families.

As the night passed, it was midnight. Yash was sleeping, yet he whispered something-mumbling in sleep.

"M-----ma, ma-----ma," he whispered.

He was sweating. He felt like he was passing out. He was trying to breathe, yet his eyes remained closed.

"Yashhhhhhhhh!"-the voice echoed in his ears.

He jerked awake from sleep, panting heavily. He wiped the sweat from his forehead.

He lay back on the bed and closed his eyes. Exhaustion took over, and he soon drifted off to sleep.

The sun was glowing, birds were chirping, and the noise of the outside world-the bikes, cars, and sunlight-flashed on Shivani's face.

She opened her eyes and got up from the right side of the bed. Rubbing her eyes, she folded her clothes and went to take a shower. As she stood under the warm stream, the hot water ran down her face, her eyelashes resting on her cheekbones. She closed her eyes, relaxing under the shower.

After a while, she came out wearing her uniform. She dried her hair, applied kajal to her eyes, and tied her hair into a ponytail. Satisfied with her look, she whispered to herself, "Chal Shivi, be ready for election day... huhhh." She sighed. "Main toh ek number ki introvert hoon. Piya aur Meera ke saamne jitna chahe baat kar leti hoon, par itne students ke saamne kaise?"

With a sigh, she came out of her room. She quickly wore her specs, grabbed her bag, and sat at the dining table.

"Good morning, Dad... Ma," she greeted.

They remained quiet again.

Naina entered. "Morning, Mumma, Dad," she said cheerfully.

They smiled and nodded at her, which made Shivani's heart ache even more.

As everyone started eating, Shivani looked down at her plate. Her eyes widened in surprise. The same food-just a small roti with pickle. Her throat felt dry. How could they do this? They were eating proper food, and she got only roti and pickle. She didn't complain or refuse. In fact, she actually liked the food. But deep down, she had hoped they would offer her a proper meal too. They didn't.

Singh Mansion

Yash was sleeping, his messy hair falling over his sharp features, long eyelashes resting against his cheekbones.

Karan and Rohan barged into his room, yelling, "Yaaashhhh!"

They looked at each other. "Yeh kya, itne ghode-ghade bech ke so raha hai?" Rohan muttered.

Karan slapped Yash on the back, making him yelp in pain. Rubbing his eyes, Yash growled, "Tum dono ko toh main...!"

Karan and Rohan immediately started blaming each other.

"Iska idea tha!"

"Nahin, iska tha!"

Yash snapped, "Idea kisi ka bhi ho, sazaa toh dono ko milegi."

With a pillow in one hand and a jug of water in the other, he chased them. Karan and Rohan's eyes widened in shock as they tried to save themselves. The three of them ran into the living area, Yash throwing pillows and splashing water at them.

The servants smiled at their antics and quietly left the scene.

The house was now in chaos, filled with laughter and joy. Karan and Rohan looked at each other and nodded. They had done this on purpose-to see Yash laugh and smile again. They didn't want their friend to stay sad, and somehow, they had managed to lift his spirits.

The three of them collapsed on the couch, laughing.

In that moment, surrounded by each other's presence, they found peace. And they were happy-with the small family they had created.

Meanwhile, Shivani took her bag and was about to leave when Raj stopped her.

"Shivani, apna phone dena," he said.

She nodded, "Okay," and handed him her phone.

Raj checked her phone with a stern expression. After a while, he gave it back to her.

"Now go," he said.

She nodded, knowing this had become part of her daily routine.

She went to pick up Meera, who was still at home. Shivani stood outside and called,

"Meera, jaldi kar na! Late ho jayega!"

Meanwhile, Meera was sleeping lazily, lost in her own world, carefree.

Amit gently shook her,

"Beta, get up," he said, kissing her on the head. "Shivani is waiting."

Her eyes flew open.

"What?! Oh God, Dad, I’m late again! Aapne mujhe kyun nahi uthaya?"

She rushed to the washroom as Amit chuckled at his daughter’s antics. Shivani waited patiently inside her home.

After a while, Meera came out.

"Sorry, Shivi. Kal se pakka jaldi uthungi."

Shivani sighed,

"I know you won’t," she replied with a smile.

Meera grinned,

"Chal na, breakfast kar le," she offered.

Shivani shook her head,

"No, I already ate before coming."

Amit and Yuvraj, Meera’s grandfather, called out,

"Come beta, join us."

Meera sat at the dining table with them. They began eating together. Shivani watched them and their food.

Amit lovingly fed Meera, followed by Yuvraj. Shivani felt a lump in her chest. She had only ever seen such love shared with Naina, never with herself.

After a while, she took two bites and said,

"I’m full."

"Meera, let’s go. It’s getting late."

Meera nodded,

"Yes, Dad. We’re leaving."

Amit and Yuvraj hugged Meera.

"Be safe, mere bacche."

Shivani stood, watching them with a sad smile. Somewhere deep down, she wished her family treated her the same way.

But it was just a wish — something that was never going to be true. Not now, not ever.

Amit looked at Shivani and ruffled her hair.

"May your friendship always stay this strong."

Meera smiled,

"Always, Dad."

They both left the house together.

At Khanna Home:

Piya was having breakfast with her family. Arjun sat at the center of the dining table, wearing a stern expression as he quietly ate. The room was silent, but it was a comforting silence.

Sumitra spoke,

"Beta, aaj toh election hai na? Tumne bataya tha. All the best, beta."

Piya nodded,

"Thank you, Maa."

Aman smiled,

"Diiii, all the best! Main pray karunga ki aap captain bano!"

Piya smiled,

"Aww, my cute lil brother. I will!"

She looked at her father, hoping for some words of encouragement, but he remained silent.

As Piya and Aman left, Sumitra turned to Arjun.

"Arjun, tum hamesha aise kyun karte ho? Un dono ko tumhara pyaar chahiye."

Arjun broke the silence,

"Sumi, pehli baat — main sirf strict hoon. But I love both of them a lot. It’s just that I don’t want to spoil them."

Sumitra sighed,

"You’re one of a kind."

Arjun chuckled,

"I’m your only one, jaan."

Sumitra giggled as he hugged her tightly.

Meanwhile, Shivani and Meera reached school, which was buzzing with students — voices, laughter, and chaos filled the air.

Yash, Rohan, and Karan also arrived. Students were busy playing, chatting, and laughing.

Piya was hurrying inside when she collided with Karan.

She stared at him,

"Tum phir?"

He replied,

"Obviously. School hai, toh yahi aaoonga na."

She mimicked him,

"Ohhh, I thought you'd go somewhere else — maybe Charan Chapoor?"

Rohan smirked,

"Wah Karan! Apna naam kab se change kiya tune? Karan se seedha Charan Chapoor!"

Karan glared at him,

"Toh tu na chup kar!"

Piya made a face and walked away.

Karan muttered under his breath,

"Godddd, this girl…"

As they all stood on the ground for assembly, Shivani stood in the front because she was short. After the assembly, the principal announced, “Students, the voting ceremony will start now. Everyone, stand according to your class.”

As everyone arranged themselves class-wise, the students began to vote. Yash said, “Chashmish, fikr mat karna. Hum dono hi head boy aur head girl banenge.”

She glared at him, “Chup,” she muttered under her breath as she walked away.

Meera, Piya, and Shivani stood beside each other as the voting for head boy and head girl continued.

Shivani said, “Pata nahi kaun head girl banegi.”

Piya and Meera smacked their heads lightly with their hands. “Obviously tum banogi, Shivi.”

Shivani sighed and stood quietly.

As the voting ended, the teachers collected and checked the votes.

The principal announced, “We have the results. The students have selected their head girl and head boy. I hope you will stand for what’s right, work hard — not just for the badge, but for the respect your duty and the badge deserve.”

As the principal continued, she said, “The head girl is Shivani Khanna.”

Shivani was shocked. “Kya? Main?”

Yash smirked, “Maine kaha tha, Chashmish.”

As she went on stage, for the first time, she felt good. The principal congratulated her and pinned the badge on her.

“And our head boy is Yash Singh,” the principal continued.

He smiled as if he had won a lottery and quickly went on stage, smirking at her. The principal pinned the badge on him and said, “They are your head girl and head boy. They will handle the responsibilities ahead.”

“So students, maintain discipline,” the principal added as they took the oath and repeated her words.

The principal continued as the other leaders were announced: Rohan was made the Sports Captain, and Meera was appointed the Cultural Activities Leader.

Karan was named the House Captain, and Piya became the Discipline and Cleanliness Leader.

As the other students received their badges for their roles and leadership positions,

Yash looked at Shivani.

She glanced at him and said, “Kya?”

He stared at her and replied, “Kuch nahi, bas yunhi.”

She rolled her eyes. “Kya Aashiqui movie ka dialogue chipka rahe ho? Badtameez ladka.”

"This was a new beginning for all of them, as their lives would inevitably become connected."
